Every year UPSC conducts NDA Exam two times (NDA 1 2020 and NDA 2 2020) to recruit officers in Indian Army, Indian Airforce and Indian Navy. The NDA Exam is a 3-Tier Exam that consists of a Written Exam at Stage 1 followed by an SSB Interview at Stage 2 and SSB Medical at Stage 3.

After qualifying in Stage 3, the candidates are sent for a rigorous Training at NDA for 4 years and after that the gentlemen cadets join the respected arms to serve as Officers in Indian Defence Forces.

Note: The candidates applying for the examination should ensure that they fulfil all the eligibility conditions for admission to the Examination. Their admission at all the stages of the examination will be purely provisional subject to satisfying the prescribed eligibility conditions.

NDA 1, NDA 2 Application Form 2020

All Applications of NDA Exam 2020 must be submitted in Online Format Only. No other mode of Application is entertained.

Before Applying for NDA/ NA 2020 Online form, one must go through all the following important details of the NDA Application Form 2020. Candidates must be aware of the mode of application, How to Apply for NDA Exam Fee 2020 and Details of Exam Fee etc.

NDA Exam 2020 Online Application: How to Apply (Step by Step)

The Online Applications of NDA 1 2020 (Part I and II) can be filled from 9th January, 2020 to 4th February, 2020.

STEPS: Application for NDA must be done online on UPSC official website.

  1. Application form of NDA comprises of Two Parts: Part I and Part II
  2. In Part 1, Candidates have to fill there general details like Education and Personal Details
  3. In Part 2 of Application Form, Candidates have to pay the Online Application Fee and have to upload scanned picture and signature.
  4. There is no correction feature in the Online Application, hence candidates have to ensure and fill each detail very carefully.
  5. Candidates can take Print Out of Application for future use. (No need to send it to UPSC)
  6. Candidates must provide correct and working E-mail identity while filling the form.

Note: Do not submit multiple applications as this may result in rejection of Application form.

NDA 2020 Exam Fee Details: How to Pay

The Exam Fee for NDA Application 2020 is Rs. 100 (Rupees One Hundred) per application. The Fee can be paid by the following 2 methods:

To Pay Online: The exam fee must be submitted through Online Mode (Internet banking, Visa/MasterCard/Rupay Credit/Debit Card) or by depositing cash in any SBI Branch by cash.

To Pay By Cash: Candidates opting for Pay by Cash should generate the Challan form from PART 2 Registration of the Online Application.

Note: Candidates belonging to the below mentioned category need not to pay NDA 2020 Application Fees

  1. Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes
  2. The sons of serving/ex-Junior Commissioned Officers/Non-Commissioned Officers/Other Ranks of Army and equivalent ranks in the Indian Navy/Indian Air Force are also not required to pay the prescribed fee if they are studying in Military School (formerly known as King George’s School) /Sainik School run by Sainik Schools Society.

NDA Exam 2020 Photo and Signature Details

Before Appling for NDA 2020, Candidates are required to have scanned copies of Photograph and Signature. The size of Photograph must be from 3 KB to 40KB and the signature must be in black ink with size 1KB to 40KB.

NDA Exam 2020 Eligibility Criteria

The aspirants looking forward to join the National Defence Forces must be aware of the NDA Eligibility Criteria. Below is the brief eligibility criteria of the NDA Exam 2020.

  1. Nationality
  2. Age Limit for NDA 1 2020
  3. Gender and marital status
  4. Educational Qualification
  5. Physical Standards

Nationality

Only Unmarried Males are required to fill the NDA Application. Candidates with the following nationalities only can fill the NDA 2020 Application Form:

  1.  a citizen of India, or
  2. a subject of Bhutan, or
  3. a subject of Nepal, or
  4. a Tibetan refugee who came over to India before the 1st January, 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India, or
  5. a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka and East African Countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire and Ethiopia or Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.

Age Limit

  • For NDA I, candidates must have born between 2nd July 2000 to 1st July 2003.
  • For NDA II, candidates should have born between 2nd January 2001 to 1st July 2004.

Gender and Marital Status

  • Candidate must be a Male and Unmarried.
  • Candidate must not marry until the completion of Training Period.

Educational Qualification

Candidates applying for NDA 1 and NDA 2 2020 must check their educational qualification to be able to appear for NDA written test. Candidates who are in Class 11th are not eligible to fill NDA Application Form.

  1. For Army Wing of NDA :12th Class pass of the 10+2 pattern of School Education or equivalent examination conducted by a State Education Board or a University.
  2. For Air Force and Naval Wings of NDA :12th Class pass of the 10+2 pattern of School Education or equivalent with Physics and Mathematics conducted by a State Education Board or a University.
  3. For the 10+2 Cadet Entry Scheme at the Indian Naval Academy: 12th Class pass of the 10+2 pattern of School Education or equivalent with Physics and Mathematics conducted by a State Education Board or a University.
  4. {Important} Candidates who are appearing in the 12th Class under the 10+2 pattern of School Education or equivalent examination can also apply for this examination.


NOTE : Those candidates who have failed CPSS/PABT earlier are not eligible for Air Force.

Physical Standards

All the candidates applying for NDA 1 and NDA 2 2020 must be physically fit in accordance with Indian Defence Forces Medical Criteria.

NDA 2020 Exam Pattern and Marking Scheme

National Defence Academy Examination 2020 Exam Pattern comprises of two sections- Mathematics and General Ability Test. The Exam carries total marks of 900 divided between these two sections.

  1. Mathematics– The Mathematics Syllabus of NDA 2020 has questions from Class 11th and Class 12th. This sections carries 300 marks. All questions are objective type and a time duration of 2.5 hours is given for Mathematics.
  2. General Ability Test: The General Ability Test of NDA comprises to two sub-sections. A total of 2.5 hours are allotted to complete this section:
    • Section A: English- It carries 200 marks
    • Section B: General Knowledge- It carries 400 marks.
  3. SSB Interview: A 5 day SSB Interview for that candidates who qualify the written exam. A total of 900 marks are allotted to this section.

Note: Negative Marking- NDA exam has a negative marking of one-third(1/3). For example, a question of 3 marks is attempted wrong, then a penalty of -1 is added. Therefore, we recommend the candidates to attempt only the question which you are sure about. Don’t attempt any question just on guess.

  • The Mode of Examination will be Offline.
  • To fill the OMR sheet, only Black Ball Pen must be used.
  • The Exam will be Bilingual (Hindi and English).
  • Used of Mobile Phones and Digital Gadgets is banned.
  • No Travel Allowance will be paid for Written Examination.

Thus, the exam pattern of NDA 2020 carries a total of 1800 marks(900 written+900 SSB). The candidates qualifying both these exams are sent for SSB Medicals at the respected Military Hospitals.

How to Download NDA 2020 Exam Admit Card

After applying for the NDA  2020 Application Online, admit card is generated in the digital form. The admit card is available on the official UPSC website three weeks before the commencement of written examination of NDA.

NDA 1 2020 admit Cards can be Downloaded in March 2020 and Candidates of NDA 2 2020 can Download Admit Card in October 2020 Online.

  • Step 1- Go to Website https://upsc.gov.in
  • Step 2- Scroll Down and Click on the ADMIT CARD Button.
  • Step 3- Choose Admit Card for UPSC Examination on next page.
  • Step 4- Click on Download in front of NDA Exam 2020
  • Step 5- On the Next Window, login using Registration ID or Roll Number. (You can login using any one of these).
  • Step 6- Enter your Date of Birth on Next Screen.
  • Step 7- Your NDA 1 2020 Admit Card will be displayed. Get a print out for Written Exam.

Note: For downloading the e-Admit Card, the candidate must have his vital parameters like RID & Date of Birth or Roll No. (if received) & date of birth or name, father’s name & Date of Birth available with him.
