The Selection Process of Officers in Indian Army is done through a written Examination (except for Direct entries). After which an Service Selection Board (SSB) Interview is organized at the listed SSB Centres and then a medical Test is
Note: Direct Entries are the attempts where candidates with certain qualifications are directly called for SSB Interview as they are exempted from the Written Exam Process.
The Written Examination for recruitment of Officers in Indian Army is conducted by UPSC at two levels. National Defence Academy (NDA) Exam is for the candidates who pass or appeared in the 10+2 or Intermediate. Combined Defence Services (CDS) Exam is for the Graduate and Under-Graduate Candidates. The candidates who clear these Examinations are then called for a 5-day Interview at Army SSB Centres.
The 5-Day SSB Interview is organized by Indian Army where the candidates are tested for different Officer-like-qualities. The Interview is divided into 2 rounds- Screening and Conference. Candidates who clear both these rounds are recommended for Medicals in the respective Army Hospitals.
When you appear for exams to be an Officer in Indian Army and clears all the Stages of the exam. You are then subjected to a Training at your respective academies.
The Time Period of Training of Officers varies. If you join through NDA, the time period of training of NDA is 4 years (3 years NDA + 1-year IMA). When you join through CDS, the training period is around 9 months only.
