Minimum Education Qualification and Age Limit for Indian Army

For Indian Army GD Soldier, the minimum accepted educational Standards are given below. If a candidate wants to apply for the Indian Army GD Job Notification, then he must ensure that he fulfills the listed below Eligibility Criteria for Indian Army.

Indian Army Eligibility Criteria GD, Clerk, Tradesmen

Education Eligibility Criteria for Army GD is:

  1. SSLC / Matric (High School) with 45% marks in aggregate.
  2. No aggregate percentage required for higher qualification (eg.10+2).
  3.  A minimum 33% in each subject required.

Age Limit– Candidate should be in between 17.5 to 21 years as per the original documents (10th Marksheet).

Marital Status– Candidate should be unmarried to join Indian Amy as per the defence rules.

17 ½ – 23 Yrs
Soldier Clerk / Store Keeper Technical (All Arms)(I) Should have secured 50% marks In each subject and 60% marks in aggregate in class XII.

(II) Should have studied English and Maths/Accts/ Book Keeping in Class XII or X and should have secured min 50% marks in each of these subjects, whether studied in Class XII or X.

(III) Even if a candidate is a graduate or has a higher qualification percentage marks scored in Class XII would be applicable towards his eligibility.

17 ½ – 23 Yrs
Soldier Nursing Assistant (Army Medical Corps)10+2/ Intermediate exam pass in Science with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English with Min. 50% marks in aggregate and min. 40% in each subject.
In case the candidate has a B.Sc. Degree with (Botany / Zoology / Bio-Science) and English, the stipulation of percentage in Class XII is waived off.

However, the candidate should have studied all the four specified subjects in Class XII also.

17 ½ – 23 Yrs
Sepoy Pharma (Army Medical Corps)10+2 /Intermediate Exam pass and qualified in D Pharma with Minimum 55% marks in aggregate and registered with State Pharmacy Council/Pharmacy Council of India.An individual qualified in B. Pharma with Minimum 50% marks and registered with State Pharmacy Council/Pharmacy Council of India will also be eligible.19- 25 Yrs
Soldier Nursing Assistant Veterinary (Remount Veterinary Corps)10+2 / Intermediate exam pass in Science with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English with minimum 50% marks in aggregate and minimum 40% in each subject.17 ½ – 21 Yrs
Soldier Tradesmen(All Arms)10th / ITI (except Syce. Mess Keeper and House Keeper-who may be 8th pass).17 ½ – 23 Yrs

Nationality for Indian Army GD

In order to take care of the integrity, the defence government of India has set the subsequent rules for nationality to join the Indian army from same or totally different countries.

Persons belonging to following countries can apply for Indian Army Bharti:

  1. Indian Candidates can join the Indian Army. (Read Qualification Above)
  2. Candidates from Nepal and Bhutan can also apply for Indian Army.
  3. Tibetan Refugee who has settled permanently in India before 1st January 1962 can also apply for Indian Army.
  4. A person who shifted or (migrated) from State and East African Countries of Kenya, Uganda, Pakistan, Burma the United Republic of Tanzania, Malawi, Zambia, Zaire and Ethiopia and Vietnam and settled permanently in India may also apply for Indian army.

Important Points:

  1. Candidates who fall under the category listed in point 2, 3 and 4 must have the Certificate of Nationality issued in their name by the Indian government.
  2. In the case of Gurkha subjects of Nepal, Certificate of Eligibility is not necessary.
